ORS 451.487 Referendum on order; election

The order required by ORS 451.485 and any order which amends that order shall be subject to referendum vote within the district, notwithstanding the prior authorization of such service facilities by election during formation proceedings. The referendum may be ordered by resolution of the governing body of the district, or by petition filed as provided in this section.

The requirements for preparing, circulating and filing a referendum petition under this section shall be as provided in ORS 255.135 to 255.205, except that notwithstanding ORS 255.165, the petition must be submitted not later than the 60th day after the date of the order.

If a majority of those voting approve the order required by ORS 451.485, the governing body of the district shall so declare by order entered in its journal. If a majority of those voting disapprove the order, the results shall be entered in the journal.
