Chapter 811 — Rules of the Road for Drivers
ORS 811.562 Parking in parking space with out-of-service meter
When a parking meter operated by any public body as defined in ORS 174.109 is out of service, a person may park a vehicle in any parking space regulated by the out-of-service meter:
If the space is one in which the vehicle would otherwise be allowed to park;
For the maximum amount of time that would otherwise be allowed for the space; and
Without payment of the parking fee that would otherwise be charged for the space for that amount of time.
Subsection (1) of this section does not apply if a notice prohibiting parking in the space is clearly posted at the space and where payment of the fee would be required if the meter were in service.
A person may not be cited for a vehicle that is lawfully parked in a space when parking in the space becomes prohibited.
Note: 811.562 was enacted into law by the Legislative
Assembly but was not added to or made a part of ORS chapter 811 or any series therein by legislative action. See Preface to Oregon Revised Statutes for further explanation.
