Chapter 453 — Hazardous Substances; Radiation Sources
ORS 453.520 Department of the State Fire Marshal as state emergency response commission
The Governor shall designate the Department of the State Fire Marshal as the state emergency response commission as required by the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act of 1986 (42 U.S.C. 11001 et seq.).
The department shall:
Provide, in a timely manner, advice to a state agency that is required to consult with the department about programs that involve hazardous materials or hazardous substances; and
Undertake all duties of a state emergency response commission required by the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act of 1986 (42 U.S.C. 11001 et seq.) including but not limited to:
Designating emergency planning districts;
Establishing local emergency planning committees within emergency planning districts and appointing members to the local emergency planning committees; and
Providing comments on local emergency plans.
