Chapter 830 — Small Watercraft
ORS 830.495 Report of accident resulting in death or disappearance; duties of passengers
When, as a result of an occurrence that involves a boat or its equipment, a person dies or disappears from a boat, the operator shall, without delay, by the quickest means available, notify the nearest sheriff department, state police post, Coast Guard station or other law enforcement agency of:
The date, time and exact location of the occurrence;
The name of each person who died or disappeared;
The number and name of the boat; and
The names and addresses of the owner and operator.
When the operator of a boat cannot give the notice required by subsection (1) of this section, each person on board the boat shall notify the casualty reporting authority or determine that the notice has been given.
