Chapter 801 — General Provisions and Definitions for Oregon Vehicle Code
ORS 801.462 “School zone.”
“School zone” means both of the following:
A specific segment of highway that is adjacent to school grounds and that is marked by signs described in subsection (2) of this section.
A crosswalk that is not adjacent to school grounds and that is marked by signs described in subsection (2) of this section.
Signs marking a school zone may include any words, symbols or combination of words and symbols that gives notice of the presence of the school zone.
As used in this section, “school” means a public or private educational institution for one or more levels kindergarten through grade 12 or a publicly funded early childhood education program located in a building currently or previously owned by a school district as defined in ORS 330.005.
