Chapter 285A — Economic Development I
ORS 285A.185 Brownfields redevelopment; department duties; rules
As used in this section, “brownfield” means real property where expansion or redevelopment is complicated by actual or perceived environmental contamination.
The Oregon Business Development Department shall assist private persons and local governments to redevelop brownfields.
The department shall:
Act as the primary point of contact for information regarding public and private funding options available to a person interested in redeveloping a brownfield;
Facilitate the funding process involving landowners or prospective purchasers, lending institutions, other state agencies, local jurisdictions, consultants and interested citizens;
Serve as a key advocate for the redevelopment of brownfields in Oregon;
Provide information to private persons and local governments on brownfield redevelopment funding;
Enhance the availability of funding resources through program development, grant proposals and other appropriate opportunities; and
Adopt rules necessary to carry out this section.
